Richard Odell Murray

February 8, 1938 ~ June 5, 2022 (age 84)

Obituary

Surrounded by his family, Richard Odell Murray, 84 of Bennett, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Coventry House of Siler City. His family has no doubt that he was able to walk for the first time in several years through the gates of Heaven to meet Jesus and many loved ones who have passed before him. As the family sat by his side, Richard’s nephew Tim Murray prayed with the family. Within a matter of minutes, Richard met Jesus.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Beulah Baptist Church of Bennett in the old Sanctuary.

Officiating: Dr. Neal Jackson, Rev. Robert Kidd

Burial will follow in the Beulah Baptist Church cemetery.

Richard was born in Randolph County on February, 8, 1938, to the late Walter and Oppie Tillman Murray.

Richard was a 1957 graduate of Bennett High School.

Richard lived most of his life right across the Randolph County line in Chatham County. His pride and joy were his cows, summer gardens, church community, recreational sports, and his family. He especially loved to watch the Fox News channel. He worked for Ramtex Inc. for most of his life until his retirement in the early 2000s.

Richard was a longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church of Bennett. He had a love for singing, and was a member of the church choir for many years. Richard taught his three children that God should always come first and through Jesus we are all forgiven of our sins.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife of over 30 years, Patricia Phillips Murray, parents Walter and Oppie Tillman Murray, sister, Winnie Mae McDuffie, sister, Lounette Murray Ingold, and brother, Alvin Murray.
