Betty Lou Wilson Sanders, 85, of Eagle Springs, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Bright Light Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy McNeill and Rev. Colton Moore presiding. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00 -1:45 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Pine Grove Baptist Church. The family will return to the Bright Light after the interment to receive friends in the fellowship hall. The body will lie in state from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Joyce-Brady Chapel.
Betty was born in Chatham County on June 23, 1937 to Annie Belle Wilson Burns. She attended Bright Light Baptist Church and was formerly employed in the textile industry. Betty loved the outdoors, mowing and cooking. She cherished time spent with family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Sanders and brothers, J. Frank Burns and Earl Burns.
Betty is survived by her sons, Danny Sanders, of Lexington, SC and Gary Sanders and wife, Mary, of Eagle Springs; grandchildren, Dale Sanders and Danielle Marvin; great-grandchildren, Ashton Thomas, Colton Thomas and Khloe Marvin; step-grandchild, Jonathan Brown; special friends, Charles McNeill and family and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Operation Smile, 3641 Faculty Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23453 or the charity of one’s choice in Betty’s name.
