Velma Ritter Moore

August 18, 1942 — August 3, 2023

Robbins

Velma Ruth Ritter Moore, 80, of Robbins, went on to be with the Lord on Thursday August 3, 2023.  Velma’s love was profound and unconditional. As a Mama, Granny, sister, friend, and neighbor she will forever be remembered for the way she embraced each moment with grace, prayed expectantly, and lived with an attitude of thanksgiving as God continued to guide her each day.  She was known for always seeing the best in others, being a strong encourager, her joy-filled laughter, kind spirit, and helpful hands.  She was not one to complain, but instead lived in a state of relying on God and trusting Him that things were done according to his purpose.  She cheered for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on a consistent basis.  She cherished her time with family, quilting friends, church family, and Asheboro Walmart family.  Her legacy of love and unwavering faith will live on in the lives of her family and friends.

Velma was born on August 18, 1942 to James Albert Ritter and Alta Reeder Ritter. She was a member of Robbins First Wesleyan Church and retired from Asheboro Walmart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Roger Moore; infant daughter, Velma Dianne Moore;  brother, Arnold Ritter and daughter-in-law, Michelle Maness Moore.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Allen (Dennie), of Star, Tony Moore (Sandy), of Robbins, Wendy Ritter (Billy), of Robbins, Denise Greene (Darris), of Seagrove, and Jodie Moore (Maria), of Robbins; sister, Maybelle Williams (Bill), of Robbins; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Ritter and Judy Moore, both of Robbins; brother-in-law, Wayne Moore; grandchildren, Daniel Moore (Olivia), Seth Burdette (Jessica), Kaitlyn Parrish (Matt), Karla Pittman (Loyd), Stephanie Jones (AJ), Taylor Moore, Kendall Purvis (Brandon); Alex Moore, Kayden Moore, Cruz Moore, Andrew Moore, Ezekiel Moore and Evelyn Moore; Great Grandchildren, Brayden, Emmeline, Judah, Mason, Addison, Noah, Little Loyd, Abigail, Copeland, Riley and Gatlin and a host of family and friends.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Robbins First Wesleyan Church with Pastor Cameron Dockery and Pastor Gerald Hussey presiding. The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00-2:45 pm in the sanctuary and following the service in the fellowship hall. A private family burial will be held at Brown’s Chapel Christian Church at a later date.
