Tom Phillips

Bear Creek: Mr. AJ “Tom” Phillips 86, of 7792 NC Highway 42, Bear Creek, NC passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 . Funeral Services will be conducted 11am Friday, January 3, 2014 at Glendon Independent Christian Church with Rev. Robert Yandle & Rev. Joe Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Phillips was a native of Chatham County and was a lifelong farmer. He was also a member of Glendon Independent Christian Church. Mr. Phillips was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife- Shirley Teague Phillips of the home. Daughter-Julie Martindale & husband Marvin of Bear Creek. Son- Dean Phillips of the home & Dean’s friend- Elizabeth Rea. Grandchildren-Dustin Martindale & Amber Martindale. Great-Granddaughter-Emery Estridge. Sisters-Hazel McAdoo & Dorothy Meadows, both of Greensboro.

The Family will receive friends at Joyce-Brady Chapel,3833 Chatham St., Bennett, NC 27208 from 6-8 pm Thursday, January 2, 2014, and other times at his home.
