Shirley Ann Wilson Rives, 85, of Bear Creek, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. A graveside service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, in Goldston, where she was a member, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2020 with Rev. Jim Whitaker presiding. The body will lie in state at Joyce-Brady Chapel on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Shirley was born in Chatham County, on September 10, 1934 to Herbert and Etta Wilkie Wilson. She worked at Collins & Aikman for 43 years and then cared for others in private duty elderly care. She had a very giving heart and put the needs of others before her own. Shirley was a HUGE Carolina basketball fan. She loved her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three infant sons, Billy, Christopher, and Gary; 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
She is survived by her son, Rocky Rives (Anita) of Bear Creek; grandsons, Rocky Rives, II and Corey Rives, both of Bear Creek; great-grandchildren, Tyler Rives, Adrian Rives, Lydia Rives, and Brandon Rives, all of Bear Creek; brothers, Rowland Wilson (Darlene) and Bobby Wilson (Helen), all of Goldston ; several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Shirley’s memory Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 578, Goldston, NC 27252.
