Samuel "Ernest" Gatlin

February 26, 1936 — December 27, 2014

Mr. Samuel Ernest Gatlin, age 78, of Bennett Road in Seagrove, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 27, 2014.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm, on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Riverside Baptist Church in Seagrove with Rev. Kenneth Bouldin, Rev. Rayford Brown, and Rev. Garland Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Masonic Rites.

The Visitation will be held Monday, December 29, 2014, from 6-8pm, at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett, and other times at the home.

Mr. Gatlin was the son of the late William Thomas Gatlin and Rosa Deaton Gatlin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers, Ralph, Franklin, Lester, and Lonnie Gatlin; Sisters-Pauline Bowman & Clara Brewer.

He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, and Marietta Masonic Lodge #444 in Ramseur. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Gatlin had worked at Charles Craft in Siler City, Spring Mills in Biscoe, and Millikan Mills in Robbins. He also raised tobacco, loved history, genealogy, pottery, and worked on small engines. He was also a member of the Randolph Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Brown Gatlin, Son- William B. Gatlin of the home, Brother-Charles Gatlin of Bennett, Sister- Nellie Freeman & husband Wesley of Asheboro.

Memorials may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Hospice of Randolph County, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
