Biography

C. Ray Jones 80, of 56 W. Raleigh St., Bennett, NC passed away Monday August 15, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday August 17, 2011 at 3 pm at the Bennett Baptist Church where he was a member with Rev. Tim Strider and John Wayne Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jones was a Chatham Co. native and was born on July 5, 1931 to the late Clina & Leona Phillips Jones. He was a fixer at Bossong Hoisery for 32 yrs. He was a former Deacon ,Sunday School Superintendant, and Sunday School teacher at his church. Mr. Jones loved sports and especially his favorite teams the "Tarheels" & the "Boston Red Sox"
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Son- Steven Jones, a Grandson- Christian Lee, and a Great-Grandson- Kelly Modery.
Mr. Jones is survived by Wife- Shirley Honeycutt Jones of the home, Daughter- Lou Ann Lee & husband Tom of Sanford. Grandchildren- August Sutphin, Brennan Binkley & wife Edie, Robert Lee, and Forrest Baringer-Jones. Great-Grandchildren- Steven Sutphin, Mitchell Modery, and Madeline Binkley.Brothers- Wayne Jones & wife Lucille, Howard Jones & wife Betty Lou, and Dwight Jones & wife Ruby all of Bennett , Gary Jones & wife Donna of Asheboro. Sister- Geneva Saunders of Ramseur. One remaining Uncle- Wilbert & wife Mildred Jones of Bennett.
Visitation will be Tuesday August 16, 2011 from 6-9pm at Joyce-Brady Chapel, 3833 Chatham St., Bennett, NC 27208 and other times at the home.
