Norbert (Norb) Adrian

June 6, 1929 — April 6, 2021

Ramseur

Norbert (Norb) Edward Adrian, aged 91 and three quarters, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2021 in his favorite “Florida” room at his home in Ramseur. The graveside service will be held at Pine Rest Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday April 11, 2021 with Pastor John Williamson of Acorn Ridge Baptist Church and Ronald McNeill presiding. Joyce-Brady Chapel will be open on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 1:00 - 5:00pm for those who wish to sign the register. Attendees are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing while at Joyce-Brady Chapel.

Norb was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 6,1929 to Joseph Anthony Adrian and Alma Margaret Kreutzer. He proudly enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force as a supply officer during the Korean War. He was the plant manager at Rockwell International in Logansport, Indiana where he lived for 30 years. After retirement he moved to Summerton, South Carolina and then years later to Ramseur, North Carolina. He enjoyed fishing and being on the water. He especially loved fishing for walleye and pike during his trips to Cook, Minnesota with his son Jeff. He was a lifelong sports fan. He appreciated all sports but enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and basketball more than anything else. He had a devoted fondness for certain articles of clothing; one old Notre Dame sweatshirt (with so many holes it looked as if it had been shot with a shotgun) and an overly worn fisherman’s hat. He was gifted with numbers and could easily do complex problems in his head. He was frugal and wise with money, sarcastic to the extreme and usually won any card game he played, particularly when it was Euchre or Hearts. He loved his country and loved to talk politics. He enjoyed cooking and usually acted as the lead cook for all family get-togethers until his later years when he flagrantly indulged his sweet tooth and chose to eat donuts, pie and ice cream for most meals. Above all he loved his children, grand-children and great grand-children. He delighted to take the small ones on golf cart rides and supply them with endless m&m’s. He adored his spoiled dogs but treasured time with his family most of all. He was a beloved husband, Daddy and Papa. He will be sorely missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Ann Elizabeth Taylor, sister Mildred Williams, brother Bill Adrian, daughter-in-law Sandy Adrian and his favorite radio personality, Rush Limbaugh.

Norb is survived by his four children, Norb Adrian of Columbus, Indiana, Steve Adrian and his wife Debby of Dallas, Texas, Ann Gibbons and her husband Pete of Carthage, North Carolina and Jeff Adrian of Ramseur, North Carolina, his brother John Adrian, of Indianapolis, Indiana and his grandchildren (and spouses) Kristina (Matt) , Clay (Danielle), Allison (Ruben), Addie (Chris), Sam (Anna) and Nick and twelve great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Randolph County Hospice, 416 Vision Dr., Asheboro, North Carolina, 27203.
