Mozelle "Memaw" Brown

April 17, 1927 — May 1, 2015

Mozelle Myrick Hussey ”MeMaw” Brown, age 88, of NC Highway 22, in Bennett, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. She was the daughter of the late Rossie Ondus Myrick and Olivia Vertle Lambert Myrick. She was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett.   She accepted her LORD and Savior at age 13 and always served the LORD faithfully.

Mrs. Brown was a sweet, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother.  She loved all people, but especially children and young people.  She was an encourager.  She was a homemaker, and also worked in the old Robbins Mill, Southern Garment and in childcare.  She was a special “MeMaw” to a lot of young people.  She also enjoyed singing in her church choir for many years.  Mrs. Brown was known for being a good cook.  She was of the 1945 graduating class of High Falls High School.  She kept a close relationship with her classmates her entire life.  For the last 25 years, she has enjoyed traveling across the country and attending the annual reunions of the World War II 1258th Combat Engineers Battalion, of which her husband, Ray C. Hussey had been a member.  Through all this she had many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held 3pm Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett, with Dr. Neal Jackson and Dr. Curtis Barbery officiating. Burial will follow in the church in cemetery after the service.

Visitation will be held 6-8pm Monday, May 4, 2015, in the new sanctuary of Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands-Ray Cranford Hussey, and John Curtis Brown.

She is survived by her Son-Steven R. Hussey & wife Ina of Bennett; Daughters-Janet H. Oldham & husband Albert of Raleigh, Christine H. Brewer & husband Jackie of Bennett, Denise H. Mauney & husband  John of Stem; Step-Children- W.C. Brown & wife Esther of Fayetteville, Ga., and Faye Brown Key of Greensboro; Grand-Children-Lynelle O. Brewington & husband Mark of Garner, Leslie B. Versace & husband Matt of Wake Forest,  Albert H. Oldham, Jr. of Wilmington, Deanna C. Blair & husband Greg of Creedmoor, Michael A. Callicutt & wife Avril of Rockville, MD., Clayton R. Callicutt of Stem, Brandon C. Hussey & wife Erin of Durham, and J. Brett Hussey of Graham; Great-Grandchildren- Amanda R. Hagwood & husband Lyle of Wilmington, Anna Christine Munson of Raleigh, Olivia Mackenzie Blair of Creedmoor, Sarah Christine Versace of Wake Forest, Cole G. Blair of Creedmoor, Ryan Matthew Versace of Wake Forest, Bennett Cranford Hussey of Durham,  Rowan Isaiah Callicutt of Rockville, MD, and Baby Hussey on May 6th of Durham; Step-Grandchildren- Betty Lynn Mauney  of Wilmington and Sarah M. Hancox & husband Jordan of Newport News, Va.
