Louis Fowler

Herbert Louis “Papa Louis” Fowler, 89, of Bear Creek, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at his home. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Joyce-Brady Chapel with Pastor Bobby Shutt and Pastor Jason Chamberlain presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-1:45 p.m. A private entombment will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Chatham Memorial Park.

Louis worked in textiles for 45 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, building and working with his hands. His faith was strong and he loved his family and his time spent with them. Louis visited Disney World 32 times with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters, one daughter-in-law and one son-in-law.

Louis is survived by his wife of 10 years, Susan Fowler Welch, of the home; children, Pamela Stewart, of Pittsboro, Mike Fowler, of Youngsville and Carlton Elkins (Amy), of Wanchese; sister, Betty Jean Hatley, of Durham; grandchildren, Mandy Smith, Chris Waller, Tina Jones, Aaron Fowler, Erica Fowler and Logan Elkins; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Keason, Jordan, Natalie, Andrew, Logan, Chris, Jr., Bentley, Harrison, Jordan and Grayson; Aunt, Margaret Oldham; special niece, Brenda Williams; Cousins, John (Pede) Oldham, Bobby Oldham and Rachel Smith; fur baby, Mikey and a host of family and friends.

The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
