Lewis Foster “Buddy” Poe, 76, of Bennett, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Peak Resources-Pinelake in Carthage. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Beulah Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Neal Jackson presiding. The viewing room at Joyce-Brady Chapel will be open on Saturday from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects. COVID restrictions are to be followed.
Buddy was born in Moore County on March 9, 1944 to Elvin Clarence Poe and Bemon Foster Poe. He served in the U.S. Army. Buddy was employed with Holmes Builders, of Robbins, for 37 years. He was an avid N.C. State basketball fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by brothers, Bobby Lynn Poe and Billy C. Poe; twin sister, Ann Hinesley; step-brothers, Garland Crissman and Gus Crissman; step-sister, Linda Preslar and step-father, Aaron Crissman.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Purvis Poe, of the home; daughters, Mitzi Allred (Mike) of Star and Mandi Freeman, of Bennett; sister-in-law, Janet Poe, of Carthage; grandchildren, Avery, Remington, Kyla, Reagan, Keegan, Brayleigh and Maddox; step-grandchildren, Chad, Ben and Randi; great-grandchild, Crew and a host of family and friends.
