Kathleen Phillips

March 31, 1927 — February 15, 2018

Ms. Kathleen Edith Phillips, 90, of Bennett, N.C., died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018. The service will be held at 2:00p.m., Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at the Pine Mountain Friends Church in Bennett, N.C. with Robert Lee Kidd presiding.  The family will receive friends in the Pine Mountain Friends Church Fellowship Hall following the service.

Kathleen was born in Chatham County on March 31, 1927 to George Ernest and Mary Addie Shields Phillips. She worked as a Store Detective for Miami Dade County Police Department among other various jobs including Homemaking, Telephone Operator, and Textiles. She had a love for children and many grandchildren, her cats, reading, and flowers gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claude “Tommy” Luther Phillips, and her daughter Deborah Ann Phillips Cox.

She is survived by her son, Claude Alan Phillips and wife Irene of Ramseur, N.C.; daughter Cynthia Lou Phillips of Bennett, N.C.; daughter, Myra Gail Santmyer of Albemarle, N.C.; 13 grandchildren  and 22 great-grandchildren.

Condolences may be offered online at www.joycebradychapel.com .  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
