Joyce Buie Chalflinch

Joyce Ellen Buie Chalflinch, 84, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday, September, 2026 at FirstHealth Moore Regional surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Zack Garner presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-2:50 in the sanctuary and at other times at the home of Gary and Kathleen Seawell. Burial will be at Rives Chapel Baptist Church in Siler City.

Joyce was born in Moore County on September 25, 1941 to Johnny and Stella Westmoreland Buie. She was a homemaker and loved Gospel music and going to church. She loved all animals, especially her birds and cats. Joyce enjoyed going to the beach. She dearly loved her family and her time spent with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 3 brothers and her life partner of 23 years, James Brooks.

Joyce is survived her daughters, Kathleen Seawell (Gary), of Carthage and Velena Allred, of Carthage; sister, Shirley Weathersoon (Jim), of Southern Pines; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
