Grady York

December 25, 1942 — March 26, 2015

Grady Theodore York, age 72 of Spies Road in Robbins, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, surrounded by angels, as God took his hand and led him to his eternal home. He was born in Randolph County, and was the son of the late David Samuel York, Sr., and Maxine Woodell York.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Brother-Jesse York, Foster son Brian Thomas and his favorite pet Buddy.

Funeral Services will be held 2pm Monday, March 30, 2015 at Brown’s Chapel Christian Church in Robbins, with Rev. Jeff Karnes officiating.

Visitation will be held 6-8pm Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett, and other times at the home.

Mr. York loved to travel to Carolina Beach, Myrtle Beach, Pigeon Forge, and Cherokee with his wife and family.  He loved to watch Tar Heels win, Nascar racing, and watch TV, especially Mister Ed, Three Stooges, and Lizard Lick Towing. He loved his family, and grandchildren. He had a special saying for his grandchildren, “I had you, you came from my heart, and I have the scar to prove it. He also loved Gospel Music, and loved the LORD.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mattie Williams York of the home; Sons- Grady Wayne York, Timothy R. York, and Grady Raymond York, all of Asheboro; James “Buddy” York & wife Kristi of Robbins; Daughters-Mary Ann Hayden, Angela Denette Miller, and Crystal “Pete” Luck & husband Charles, all from Asheboro; Lorie Y. Pruitt & husband Steve of Seagrove; Brothers- David S. York & his wife Frances, Donnie R. York & wife Minerva, G. Eugene York & wife Marlene, all of Asheboro. Sisters-Barbara J. Clodfelter  of Randleman, Edna Y. Casey , and V. Addie Young of Asheboro; Sister-in-law- Doris Sheffield York, of Ramseur; Uncles-Ferman Woodell & wife Peggy of Asheboro, and Steve York of Asheboro;  and his special friend and pet,  Princess . Twenty one grandchildren and Nine Great grandchildren. Special friends, J.J. and JoAnn Moore, Shelly Robinson, Deanna Lane, Helen Jeffries, Neil Voncannon and Angie Graves. Special Thanks to Dr. Thomas Miller, Pastor Jeff Karnes, Community Home Care and Hospice, Randolph Hospital's Staff as well as the Home Health Staff.

The family ask that in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to help pay funeral expenses to Joyce-Brady Chapel, P.O. Box 89, Bennett, NC 27208.
