George Brooks

June 25, 1943 — October 12, 2015

Mr. George Howard Brooks, 72, of Siler City, N.C., died Monday, October 12, 2015, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. .

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening (10/14/15) at Joyce Brady Chapel in Bennett, N.C. from 6-8 p.m. and at other times at the home of son Marty Brooks. The funeral service will be conducted at 2: 30 p.m. Thursday, (10/15/2015), at Brush Creek Baptist Church in Bear Creek, N.C., with Rev. Patrick Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Howard was born in Chatham County in 1943, son of the late William Glenn Brooks and Violet Marie Phillips. He worked 45 years at Ramtex as a supervisor and fixer. He and his wife Linda raised their family, sharing 52 years of marriage. Howard enjoyed attending Brush Creek Baptist Church. He was known for his love of hunting, fishing and Nascar events and most notably, his passion for golf. His greatest joy was his time spent with his family and friends. Howard was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.

He is survived by his wife Linda of the home,  One daughter, Jennifer B. Thomas and husband Fred of Siler City and One son, Marty Brooks and wife Jessica also of Siler City, Three sisters, Lib Thomas and Sarah Justice both of Bear Creek and Clara McMasters and husband Earl of Staley, N.C. and One brother, Eli Brooks of Bear Creek. Four grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kaleb and Shelley Brooks and Robyn Craven and husband Jonny. Also a special friend, Don Johnson of Bear Creek.
