Ester Britt Hussey, age 92, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born on July 29, 1933, in Moore County, Ester lived a life marked by faith, love, and quiet service to others.
Ester dedicated many years of hard work to Ithaca Industries, where she remained until her retirement. She was married to the love of her life, Charlie Bee Hussey, for 60 wonderful years until his passing, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Selfless by nature, Ester gave freely of her time and talents. She was known for making countless meals, opening her home, and dropping everything to care for those who were sick or in need. She loved people deeply—through comforting hugs, kind words, and her unforgettable cooking. Her generosity was never loud or showy, but steady, sincere, and heartfelt.
Ester was deeply grounded in her faith. She loved her church and remained actively involved throughout her life, rarely missing a Sunday. Her walk with Christ was evident not only in her words but in how she lived—faithfully serving others and modeling a true servant’s heart.
Family meant everything to Ester. She loved and treasured each of them, often speaking with pride about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and celebrating their accomplishments. Her joy was found in their lives, their stories, and the time spent together.
Ester finished well. She truly lived a servant’s life, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hussey; her parents, Barney and Cora Britt; her sisters, Dora Cagle, Jane Brady, and Helen “Tootie” Gordon; and her brothers, Robert Britt and Roy Britt.
She is survived by her son, Brian Hussey (Sandy); granddaughter, Kitty Smith (Richard); grandsons, Jason Hussey (Windy) and John Needham (Haley); great-granddaughters, Aly Gale Walker, Natalie Smith, Faith, Hope, and Mystic Needham; great-grandsons, Jensen Hussey, LJ, Draven, and Anduin Needham. She is also survived by one sister-in-law and countless nieces and nephews—all of whom were deeply loved and cherished.
Though her presence will be dearly missed, her legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Liberty Hospice team for their care and compassion.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Pastor Colton Moore presiding. Burial will follow at High Falls Wesleyan Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-1:45 at the church.
