Edward Leo Maness, 87, of Bennett went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Reid Heart Center of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with family members present.  He was the son of the late Leo and Cleo Lambert Maness.  He was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett for over 60 years.  He served on Usher committee and the Senior Visitation Committee for several years.

Funeral service will be held at 2 pm, April 1, 2022 at Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett, with Dr. Neal Jackson, Reverend Todd Moore, and Reverend Robert Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Edward served in the Army from 1958-1960 at Fort Benning, GA and Fort Jackson, SC.  Edward was employed at Collins Aikman for 38 years.  Edward never met a stranger.  He was a great gadget maker, as well as an innovative knife maker – which he freely gave to anyone. Edward enjoyed keeping his bird feeders filled and watching the birds and sometimes the squirrels enjoy their treat.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Perry Maness.

Edward is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Lambert Maness of the home, sons Edward Allen Maness (Helen) of Robbins and Shannon Clay Maness (Martha) of Sanford;  sisters Betty Auman of Asheboro, Frances Boone of Cowpens, SC, brother Harrison Maness (Margaret) of Asheboro; Uncle, Dexter Lambert of Robbins and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family wishes to thank the staff of Reid Heart Center for the comfort care provided during the last several days of Edward’s life.
