Biography

Mr. Douglas Wayne Powers, 46, of 1001 Devil's Tramping Ground Road, Bear Creek, NC, passed away at his home on Friday, December 13, 2013. Gravesides services will be conducted, Monday, December 16, at 2pm, at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Goldston, with Pastor JD Mullins officiating.
Mr. Powers was a native of Lee County, and was the son of Alton "Buck" Powers, Jr, and the late Mary Ometta Welch Powers. He had formerly worked for 8 years at Hart Furniture in Siler City. He loved to spend time with his family, and loved to watch Nascar races, and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He also enjoyed listening to country music, and especially Hank Williams, Jr. He is survived by his daughter- Jeanna Sanders of Candor, sister- Karon P. Little & husband Dwight of Bennett; brother- Danny A. Powers & wife Veronica of Bear Creek; father Alton "Buck" Powers, Jr. of the home; granddaughter, Adriana Sanders; grandsons-Aleyandro & Carlos Sanders.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett, and at the other times at the home in Bear Creek. You may offer online condolences at www.joycebradychapel.com. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations may be UNC Hospice, 480 Hillsboro Street, Suite 800, Pittsboro, NC 27312
