David Charles Kennedy, 74, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Wesley Long Hospital following a series of illnesses, surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on October 3, 1951 in Troy, NC and was the son of Charles and Aitha Kennedy, of Star, NC.
He graduated from Montgomery High School, then went on to attend college at UNC-Charlotte, earning a degree in Engineering.
David married Linda Dick on June 8, 1975 at Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett, NC. They were blessed to share 51 wonderful years together.
He especially enjoyed volunteering with the Durham Police Department Reserves and served as Chief of Police in Stem, NC.
He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and an active member of The Gideons International for many years.
Remaining to cherish David’s memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Linda; his daughters, Kristin (Jared) Reeder, of Franklinville, NC and Rachel (Vic) Sfera, of Riverside, California; his brother, Farrell (Brenda) Kennedy, of Cary, NC; nephew, Grant Kennedy, of Raleigh, NC and four grandsons who were the joy of his life; Paxton & Lincoln Reeder and Lucas & Clay Sfera.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at North Ridge Bible Chapel in Raleigh. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Kevin Moore officiating. Burial will be a private family graveside service at Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett, NC.
*Due to renovations at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, the funeral service will be held at North Ridge Bible Chapel in Raleigh.
