Bear Creek: Conroe Boyd "Buck" Baker Jr. 88, of 11803 SilerCity-Glendon Rd. passed away Wednesday August 1, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday August 4, 2012 at 11 am at Tyson's Creek Baptist Church where he was a member with Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Randolph Co. Honor Guard and with graveside Masonic Rites.
Mr. Baker was a Union Co. native and was a Army & Navy Veteran. He was a supervisor at Western Electric and enjoyed doing woodworking. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge # 0143 in Bonlee where he served as a Past Master as well as other offices. He was the son of the late Conroe Boyd Baker Sr. & mother Rachel Hill Baker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Lucy Waldrop Baker and by brother- Ira Baker & sisters- Peggy Hester, Bobbie Turner, & Anna Belle Baker.
Mr. Baker is survived by: Daughter- Cheryl B. English & husband Bill of Burlington. Sons- Lonnie Baker & wife Cindy of High Point, Michael Baker of Raleigh, & Steven Baker of Reidsville. Brother- Perry Baker Of Reidsville. 6 Grandchildren 2 Step-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren 2 Step-Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday August 3, 2012 from 6-8pm at Joyce-Brady Chapel, 3833 Chatham St., Bennett, NC 27208 and other times at his residence. Memorials may be made to Tyson's Creek Family Life Center Fund, 10891 Siler City- Glendon Rd., Bear Creek, NC 27207. You may offer online condolences at www.joycebradychapel.com
