Betsy Needham

Betsy Maness Needham, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at her home on Borden Rd. surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on December 19, 1930 to Quincy Addison Maness and Rosie Pearl (Brown) Maness, of Robbins. Betsy grew up in Moore County along with her sister, Lillian and brother, Charles, who preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Edsel Needham. They were married 39 years before his passing in 1988. Her daughter-in-law, Deborah Albright Needham also preceded her in death.

Betsy worked in the textile industry at JP Stevens for 32 years. She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Hill UMC. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need and was devoted to her family and friends. Betsy enjoyed going on outings, especially to the beach and the mountains. In later years, she enjoyed “four-legged” companions. Roscoe was the welcoming committee upon your arrival to the house.

She survived by her loving children, daughter, Judy Ann Pope and son, William Bradley Needham, both of Carthage; Pam Beasley, whom she helped raise and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Pleasant Hill UMC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at her home.

The family would like to thank Liberty Home Care and Hospice, Kerry Bean and Rosa Sutherland for their compassionate caring hearts, Rev. Ronnie Poindexter, for his visits and prayers and nieces, Renee Maness and Joan Blessing. The family appreciates all of the calls, visits, food and prayers.
