High Falls: Archie Quinton Shields 87, of High Falls, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at his home. Funeral Services will be conducted 4 pm Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Beulah Baptist Church with Dr. Neal Jackson & Rev. Jamie Brown officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Shields was a Moore County native, and was born September 16, 1925. He was preceded in death by his Parents- Will and Aggie Shields, Brothers-Lynn and Edgar Shields, Sisters- Dorothy Garner, Eula Phillips, and Marie Maness. He was a retired Supervisor from Burlington Industries in Ramseur, and was an Army Veteran where he served in World War II. He also was a member and former Deacon at Beulah Baptist Church. All who knew him well knew that he was a wonderful farmer, husband, father, granddaddy, brother, and friend. He always had a smile on his face. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Era Mae Shields Daughters- Vickie S. Inguanti, & her husband John, of Kennesaw, Ga., Kathy S. Austin & her husband Mike, of Charlotte, NC. Son- Greg Shields of High Falls; 2 grandchildren- Andrea I. Altman & her husband Josh of Alpharetta, Ga., Farren I. Haygood & her husband Kevin of Atlanta, Ga., 2 sisters Beatrice Hill of High Falls and Lucy Wallace of Bennett. The Family will receive friends at Joyce-Brady Chapel 3833 Chatham St., Bennett, NC 27208 from 7 to 9 pm Friday, September 6, 2013 and other times at his home. He will also lie in state at Beulah Baptist Church from 10am on Saturday morning until the funeral at 4 pm. The family appreciates and thanks the caregivers from Hospice.
