Samuel McNeill

September 21, 1941 — February 20, 2018

Mr. Samuel “Sam” George McNeill, 76, of Star, N.C., died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 at New Testament Baptist Church in Robbins with Darren Richardson, Bruce Dickerson and Sammy McNeill presiding. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 prior to the service at the church.

Samuel was born in Forsyth County, N.C. in 1941, son of the late Colvin Lee McNeill and Edith Bodsford McNeill. He worked in the trucking industry driving for Estes as well as furniture companies in the area before retiring. Each Sunday morning, he could be seen at Carolina Fried Chicken in Robbins, holding up the “Jesus Saves” Cross prior to going to church. He loved sharing his faith in God and wanted everyone to know the certainty of their Salvation. Being an active member of New Testament, he taught the Men’s Sunday School Class for many years. He enjoyed watching old westerns when he had the time. Samuel’s great joy was his wife and family, especially all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, doing his part to teach them the ways of the Lord. In addition to his parents, Doc and Edith McNeill, he was preceded in death by Elmer McNeill, Ruby Haithcox and Lucille McNeill.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret “Sally” McNeill of the home; children, Donna McNeill of Star; Sammy McNeill and wife Connie of Robbins, David McNeill and wife Sandra of Brevard and Paul McNeill and wife April also of Robbins; brothers, Causie McNeill and wife Betty of Robbins, Phillip McNeill of Raleigh; sisters, Elizabeth Andrews and husband Floyd of Robbins, Thelma Tillman and husband Warren of Putnam and Lois Lanier and husband Larry of Star; Grandchildren, Krystal Debray and husband Cornelio, Jennifer Karshner, Heidi McNeill, Megan McNeill, Allen McNeill and wife Meghan,  Nathan McNeill, Makayla McNeill, Hannah McNeill, Holly Dixon and husband Tim, Stephanie McNeill, Savannah McNeill and Wyatt McNeill; Great- grandchildren, Gabi, Lili, Henry, Bella, Olivia, Cici, Dakota, Josie, Peyton, Halleigh and Van. As well as many brother-in-laws, sister-in -laws, nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
