Joseph "Ted" Welch

March 19, 1927 — December 20, 2014

Joseph “Ted” Theodore Welch, age 87, of NC Highway 22/42 of Bennett, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the Hospice House of Randolph County in Asheboro. Ted was the son of Joseph and Ada Welch of Bennett. He was one of eight brothers and a sister. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lynn, Lester, Frank, Howard, Porter, and Henry Welch.

The services will be held at Bennett Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for family & friends will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.

Ted retired in 1987 as a principal from Bennett Elementary School. In addition, he was a teacher for many years at Bennett School as well, before becoming principal. Ted was a proud member of Bennett Baptist Church and served it in many capacities over the years as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and Deacon.

He was a veteran of WWII in the Navy, along with several of his brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maxine Chilton Welch of the home; Sons- Mark Welch of the home, Van Welch &  wife Donna Redmon of Hillsborough; Brother -Nuby Welch of Farmer; Sister Nellie Brewer of Bennett.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to the Hospice of Randolph County, Inc., 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203, or Bennett Baptist Church, PO Box 91 Bennett, NC 27208.
