Jeffrey “ Mason “ Phillips, 17, of Bennett, N.C., died Thursday, June 1, 2017 at U.N.C. Hospital in Chapel Hill.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 4, 2017, from 2:00p.m. – 3:50 p.m. at Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church in Bear Creek, prior to the service beginning at 4:00 p.m. .  Burial will immediately follow at the Glendon Independent Christian Church Cemetery in Glendon.  Rev. Joel Murr and Rev. Bradley Kidd will be presiding.

Mason  was born in Moore County, N.C. in the year 2000, son of Jeffrey Barrett Phillips and Angela Faye Lawson Phillips. He was a Rising Senior at Chatham Central High School in Bear Creek. Mason excelled in athletics as a three sport athlete, participating in Cross Country, Baseball and Basketball. A much loved and well  rounded student; Mason loved making friends and sharing his faith in God with others. He enjoyed making people laugh, fishing , hunting and playing X-box with his friends. He took pride in being a good son, friend, student, teammate and a protective older brother. He will be greatly missed and his memory cherished by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Angela F. Phillips and friend Rusty of Bennett; his father Jeffrey B. Phillips of Robbins; one sister, Jordan Michaela Phillips of the home; Paternal grandparents, Joseph and Melva Phillips of Whispering Pines; Maternal grandparents, Robert and Ava Bayles of Siler City; Maternal Great-grandfather, Howard O’Briant of Siler City and Great-grandmother Mary Bayles of Bear Creek and paternal Great-grandmother Virginia Phillips of Robbins, as well as a host of family and friends.

It is requested that  Chatham Central Staff, Classmates and Teammates sit together as an Honorary group. Those wishing to do so, must be at the Tyson’s Creek Family Life Center no later than 3:00 on Sunday.
