Mr. Eugene Nicholas “Peanut” English, 84, of Bennett, N.C., died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at White Oak Manor of Burlington. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Joyce – Brady Chapel, from 1:00 – 1:50 p.m. prior to the funeral service that begins at 2:00 p.m. . Pastor Benny Smith will conduct the service and burial will immediately follow at Mt. Zion U.M.C. cemetery in Bennett.

“Peanut” was born in Moore County, N.C. in 1932, son of the late George Homer English and Alma Richardson English. He worked as a loom fixer in textiles. He loved cooking and canning as was known for his special recipe for Sauerkraut.  Working in the yard was another passion he enjoyed, as well as bird watching; always providing food for them so he could enjoy watching them eat. In addition to his parents,  he was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Melton, brothers, Homer, Don, James, Junior and Billy English, sister Maggie Jordan; step-father Russell Bristow, step-daughter Susan Marley and step-son Ricky Caviness.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice C. English of Siler City; Children, Pam Westbrook and husband Doug of Mebane; Pat Strider and husband Gary of Burlington, Karen English of Burlington and Kenneth English also of Burlington; step-daughters, Vickie Heien and husband Steve and Betty Allred and husband Terry of Asheboro; step-son,  Mickey Caviness and wife Kay of Star; Brothers, Johnnie English of High Falls, Sister, Sheila English Brown of Robbins and step-brother, Roger Bristow of Robbins, 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
