Ellsworth Hertzog Jr.

Mr. Ellsworth Fredrick Hertzog Jr., 53, of Seagrove, N.C., died Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his home. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, January 3, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, 5946 Pleasant Grove Church Rd, Bennett, N.C. 27208.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, with Rev. Don Edwards presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Ellsworth was born in Nyack, N.Y. in 1963. He was an Army veteran, working most recently as a correctional officer, and enjoyed hobbies such as cooking and woodworking in his free time. He is survived by his wife, Donna Williams Hertzog, along with son Nathaniel Hertzog, daughter Danielle Hertzog, stepson Matthew Williams, sisters Bonnie McKenna and husband Brian and Wendy Hertzog and half-brother, William Oatman, aunt Carole, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Ellsworth Fredrick Hertzog Sr. and Christine Stalter Conklin, as well as Step-mother, Ella Hertzog and sister, Donna Lisa Hertzog.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Ellsworth’s memory, to Pleasant Grove Christian Church/ Roofing Fund      5946 Pleasant Grove Church Rd. Bennett, N.C.  27208.
