Donald Upchurch

Mr. Donald Gene Upchurch, 75, of High Falls, N.C., died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at his home. A Graveside service will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at High Falls United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Chris Wood presiding. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

Donald was born in Moore County, N.C. in 1941, son of the late William Glenn Upchurch and Allie Caviness Upchurch. He worked as a salesman in the construction industry and later served as a Minister at the Bethany Children’s Home in Louisville, Ky. .  In his youth Donald was known as an accomplished and talented athlete in baseball and basketball. He was a “Fervent” fan of Duke University Athletics and enjoyed fishing and raising game chickens. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen B. Upchurch in 1980. He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly U. Beck of Jackson Springs, N.C. and Alexandra Upchurch of Wilmington, N.C.; two brothers, Jimmy Upchurch and wife Evelyn and Ricky Upchurch and wife Sherry all of Coleridge, N.C.; Four grandchildren and Three great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
